I've updated a couple of the videos on the video page, mostly ones of Nightmare testing before BattleBots-Long Beach 99 and at the event. I extended a couple of them and made higher-quality versions for those of you with higher bandwith. Enjoy!

I have some captured video from the appearance of Lisa Winter and Christian Carlberg on last night's Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Jay says he's gonna build a BattleBot now! See how contagious this is?

I'm going to be short some pit crew members this time around at BattleBots- Las Vegas. And I'm going to have my hands full with 2 robots, so, if you're going to be there anyway, and you don't have a robot entered, or don't mind missing most of the matches, I'm looking for some volunteers to help me out in the pit. I'd prefer 1 or 2 people, looking for other robot builders if possible, but not necessary. If you're interested, send me an email and tell me about yourself. Thanks!

Well, that was fun! Hopefully by now you've seen the latest Comedy Central BattleBots show, where my robot Backlash was crowned the newest Lightweight Champion! I have some more pics to add here soon, now that it's been made public, so stay tuned!

Thanks for all the great emails, you guys are all great. I never knew how many fans I had out there!

Be watching for Backlash's return to BattleBots in next season's BattleBots, to be taped in Las Vegas! See you there!

Cool! I've fixed the Netscape problem with the North America Robot Builder Database. The database should now be working under any browser. If you have any other problems using the database, e-mail me.

For you web-techies out there who want to know what the problem was, I discovered that Netscape doesn't replace spaces with '%20' like IE does. It wasn't able to resolve a search in a URL with spaces.

New Feature on RobotCombat.com! Due partially to the overwhelming flood of "I live in ____, are there any other builders near me?" posts on the BattleBots Forum, I've created the "" (until I can come up with a more creative name...ideas anyone?).

This can be THE place to find other builders around you, and to make yourself known to the robot combat community.

This was a pretty hefty project, so I'm sure there are still some bugs with it, but I need YOU to test it out and see how it works out. It's pretty empty right now, so GET ENTERED! Note that it currently does NOT work with Netscape. If you use Netscape, try back later once I've worked out the bugs. Please with feedback. Thanks.

In case you haven't been looking, there's been a whole slew of new articles about BattleBots that have come out recently. Check my Media section. As always, please e-mail me if you see some that I haven't caught yet, either online or in print. Thanks!

Remember that lot of titanium bars I was selling last month? Guess what? It's still available, and more of the same on top of that too. The best part? The price has been dropped by OVER 50%! Just try to find NEW, certified titanium stock anywere else for this cheap- $5 per pound! Check it out.

I've started updating my BattleBots- San Francisco 2000 event report pages with the results of the matches that have aired so far. If you missed any so far, here's your chance to catch up. Complete results, including the matches that were not aired on Comedy Central, will be posted at the end of the season.

10/6/00 (part 2)

I've finished the Backlash Photo Album! More pics will be added after this series of Comedy Central's BattleBots.

My friend Grant Imahara, builder of the awesome and seriously-engineered middleweight robot, Deadblow, finally got around to putting up a web site! Check it out and see how the Pros build their bots.

Watch for Deadblow on upcoming episodes of BattleBots on Comedy Central!

I finally got around to building a few new banners for this site. If you have a site, I would greatly appreciate it if you could put one of these on your site. Check out the 4 new banners.

Happy October! I've archived September's updates below with the rest, make sure to go back and read what you might have missed, there's been a lot going on!

Truck to Vegas!

Okay everyone, once again, I'm orgainizing a truck to take bots from the Northern CA area to Vegas. You may remember that I've done this before with the Long Beach and Vegas BattleBots.

If you have a bot, tools and whatever, that needs to get to Vegas around Nov 13-15, e-mail me and let me know what bot, what weightclass, what else, etc. Tools and such should be packed in such a way that they can be easily moved by hand truck or forklift, preferably stuff that can be stacked. Box things up well and pad everything- this stuff tends to shift during these trips. You'll be responsible for loading everything in the truck, and tying it down, so get your ropes and straps ready.

Here's the difference with this trip though- I'M NOT DRIVING. One of you guys needs to do it this time, I'm passing the torch- taking a break (and a plane). I've discussed it all with Trey, and he has agreed to compensate whoever will do the driving. BattleBots will also be picking up most of the tab on the truck, each of the bots in the truck will have to split the remaining costs.

It would be good if 2 people could go, to share the driving. Any more than 2 and the ride gets real uncomfortable, believe me. If anyone else was planning on driving to Vegas anyway, they might even want to caravan along with the truck to hep share the drive. In any case, contact me so I can determine who is in.
Thanks
