The following letters were posted on the Robot Wars Forum from 9/2/98 thru 9/3/98. It is quite apparent that the natives are restless here:

How to beat BioHazard! Sue the shit out of him. Yes. That is what's going on. Yes. By who, guess my friends. The same suit that cancelled Robotica. Whatever this guy fears he sues. It's ASTROMAN to you on the forum. That's who's watching you. He doesn't even have the courage to make a single post. Go check it out. See anything? No. Why don't you get off your lame asses and find out what's going on with the litigation between Marc and Profile and post it? Jessssssssusssss!

Really? What's going on that we haven't been hearing about? It's been too quiet from Profile lately, and come to think of it from Carlo too.. I knew there must be something going on behind all this silence...is this really true, Carlo? Are they trying to shut down the Forum again? How can we help?

Jim, didn't you follow what happended in the UK part of the forum? Profile ripped off Biohazard, Team Delta, and La Machine. This is worth a class action law suit if I ever saw one. This fucking guy... You've been duped guy... get a clue... you posted some bogus shit about Plotnicki like "I don't know why Gary cancelled Robotica..." HEY... jim... focus on the litigation between Profile and Marc (not MarK) and do it accurately not because it's the right thing to do, but because it's the ethical thing to do. Ethical means you leave yourself out of it and just do it right!

If posting to the forum is so lame, then why are you doing it?
Getting pissed isnt going to do a damn bit of good. Profile and all the other evil powers want to stop most any robotics competetion that resembles Robot Wars. So instead of getting into a legal fight that could last for years, why dont we just move on with life, do some "underground" Compet's and finally move on to some big public event. *shrug*

Gary, I follow everything in this forum. I know what is going on very well, and I choose to fight this battle my own way. I collect information, posting it on my site so that everyone may be enlightened on the details surrounding the big picture.
you posted some bogus shit about Plotnicki like "I don't know why Gary cancelled Robotica..."
The thing I posted was FROM Plotnicki, not about him, it was HIS words, not mine. I posted it because it was laughingly obvious of his cruel personality. I knew all along that you were a victim of these jerks and I've stood behind you all the way! I've assisted you with my postings, e-mail support, my ideas, positive support on my website, labor at the cutting party, and offers to do so much more to make your dream (and ours) come true!
HEY... jim... focus on the litigation between Profile and Marc (not MarK) and do it accurately
Hey Gary, show me three things here:
ethical thing to do. Ethical means you leave yourself out of it and just do it right!
Ethics are one thing, Gary. Sensibility is yet another. We all know that ethically, Profile is in the wrong, but who are we to fight ethics against UNethical lawyers? 99% of the people here in this Forum (you being an exception), do not have the ability to "just do it right". We have to be able to organize as a group, listen to different ideas from all those involved, and make ourselves a strong, focused group. If we all just raced blindly into "doing it", things would be a mess. We've all come to the conclusion that "doing it right" is planning ahead and being prepared for any circumstance. Now my opinion of "doing it right" has since day 1 of this mess, been to wait to see what happens with the litigations between Marc and Profile before trying to start something new. I still stand by that and will remain so until some kind of resolution comes out of that, however since I am only human and want to make use of the robots I have taken so long to build, I will be more than glad to enter them into some other sort of contest in the meantime (as long as it has nothing to do with Profile, of course).
You bunch of cowards. Why don't you get off your ass and actually *DO* something. Posting to the forum is so lame... you cowards, you lame asses...
To say the least, this post from you really surprises and disappoints me, Gary. People HAVE been doing something. Have you been checking the SORC forum? Some amazing things are coming out of the discussions there- great sets of rules and arena specifications for future events, awesome details on autonomous entries, pointing people in the right directions for resources, not to mention the endless stream of helpful information on building, locating parts, and overall unification of our cause. Posting to the forum may seem lame to you if you think that is all that we are doing, but it is far from pointless. Gary, I realize you are upset about the mess with Robotica, we ALL have been hurt on this painful ordeal, I really don't think that directing your anger towards us and calling us "lame asses" is proper return for all the encouragement and comfort we have given you. Now will someone please tell me that this wasn't the real Gary, so I can repair my image of him?

I don't know how Gary could have hit the target any more dead on center. There is plenty of talk around here, that's for sure.

But action? I haven't seen anything solid, save Dave Cole.

Being "in the know" is, to me, fairly ineffective. Hold an event, keep the sport alive and get more potential builders linked into the chain. Now don't hold a Robot Wars(tm) like event - alter it to not compromise their efforts (just like Tom is doing in the UK.)

The eastern half of the Joint Venture appears to be making every effort possible to bury the Robot Wars(tm) franchise.

How useful is having immediate knowledge of how deep the hole is?

Just my humble opinions here. Please don't get upset.

Dan Danknick

I am a lowly lame ass. All I do is post my opinions on this forum and read a few of other people's ideas. I haven't even built a robot. But I have done everything I could to keep the sport going. I was at your cutting party, Gary. And I did have four friends lined up and myself to help staff Robotica. But like me, many people have no where near the ability to put on an event of this magnitude. My entire savings, consists of about $180, and every single minute I have is devoted to school or Robot Wars. Either designing my robot or reading these postings. And it has been this post that has kept me and I'm sure many people thinking about Robot Wars.

Now it may look like people are doing nothing, but that is because a strong leader has not appeared to lead us to an event. Originally it was Marc Thorpe. When he was no longer able to lead us, you stepped forward Gary. Now, perhaps, we have Dave Cole, but I have not heard anything from him in the last two weeks, so that diminishes much of my trust in him which never was that great to begin with.

I don't want to make it look like the warriors are a herd of sheep, but look at us, we have three of the most well-known and influential builders in the league, Dan Danknick, Jim Smentowski, and Gary Cline, attacking each other like hyenas fighting over a stray piece of Carrion. We have the man who created this forum, cut silent for an unknown reason. And we have a large amount of new players getting very confused and very anxious about what is going to happen next, and many are putting thier trust in the SORC to accomplish that. I know that I am.

Bickering at each other is doing nothing, but creating resentful feelings, and if a flame war breaks out on this forum, God help us all. Put this energy towards finishing the rules, towards staffing the committees, towards finding a place to run out bots, but don't put it towards making others feel bad, for then everyone loses out...

Thanks, as always, for your Time,

Sorry for insulting anyone who doesn't deserve it. That was not my intent. I was venting anger on the wrong target. I guess I deserve a little compasion.
Sorry...
